How did Riverbirch Gallery start? Two years ago the concept for the gallery started when ,Walt Maes, the owner of the building and a local artist Tom Shropshire were at dinner and lamented about how they loved to paint but they needed a push. The idea came to Walt that creating a gallery and having shows and teaching classes and having an Open Studio every Monday would force them to paint. Thus, Riverbirch Gallery was born. The idea caught on and other artists soon joined the gallery. Everyone who comes to the Riverbirch Gallery comments on the quality of the space and the work. “Our hard work shows and I’m glad” says Walt Maes.
